Family Programs & Services

The Office of Family Programs & Services provides oversight to the on-campus child care centres, and the Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP) which offers free, confidential short-term counselling to employees and their dependants for personal, family, and work-related problems.

The Family Care Office is also part of Family Programs & Services and provides information, guidance, referrals and advocacy concerning child care, elder care, integrating work / study and family life, planning for a new child, or any other family-related matter. Additional services include:

  • Free workshops, support groups, family events and individual confidential consultation; 
  • A resource library with practical information on a broad range of family care issues including pregnancy and infant care, lesbian and gay parenting, special needs children and caring for elderly family members; 
  • Faculty Relocation Service; and / or, 
  • Culturally-sensitive service to clients.

When should I contact the office? 

  • You have questions or are seeking support and advice on any personal family matters;
  • You are looking for services and supports for an aging family member;
  • You have questions about the University’s maternity / parental / adoption leave policies;
  • You are looking for child care, schools and other children’s services and resources;
  • You would like to know about family-friendly events on campus; and / or
  • You are a faculty member who is new to Toronto and are looking for information on housing, university services and general information about the city.
