Further to my April 10, 2019 message on the launch of the Performance Assessment Process, I am pleased to update you on changes to your compensation.
Business Board has approved across-the-board (ATB), merit-based, and pension offset compensation increases for Confidential, Professional & Managerial (PM), Advancement Professionals (AP), and Research Associates & Senior Research Associates (RA / SRA) staff.
Annual merit increases are administered in line with each employee group’s existing compensation policies. Specifically, Confidential, Professional & Managerial (PM 1–5) staff, and Research Associates / Senior Research Associates (RA / SRA) are entitled to both a merit-based increase and an across-the-board (ATB) adjustment.
Professional & Managerial (PM 6–11) staff and Advancement Professionals (AP) receive an overall merit increase based solely on performance and do not receive a separate ATB adjustment. However, the ATB is considered when determining the merit dollars for these groups.
Across-the-Board (ATB) increase
An across-the-board (ATB) increase of 2% for all eligible Confidential, Professional & Managerial (PM 1-5) Staff, Research Associates and Senior Research Associates will be effective July 1, 2019 based on June 30, 2019 salaries. This ATB increase will be implemented in the July pay.
Annual merit increases will be administered in line within each group’s existing compensation policies. The merit pay will be effective July 1, 2019 based on June 30, 2019 salaries and will be implemented in the July pay.
Pension Contribution Increases
Further to the message sent on May 28, 2019, planned pension contribution increases will start on July 1, 2019.
One-Time Base Salary Adjustment
As a reminder, Business Board approved a one-time, special base salary adjustment for eligible staff as follows:
- 1.5% for Confidential Staff
- 1.6% for Professional & Managerial Staff and Advancement Professionals
- 0.9% for Research Associates and Senior Research Associates (with another 0.9% effective July 1, 2020)
The adjustments, which will be implemented on the July pay, will be based on June 30, 2019 salaries up to the Pensionable Salary Cap for 2019 of $169,500 and not compounded with any other salary changes.
Detailed processing instructions for the above increases will be distributed to HR and Business Officers following June pay close.
At that time, if you have any questions regarding processing, please contact the HRIS Support Team.
