Important Work Study Program Updates & Position Submission for Fall 2019

Further to the launch email announcing changes to the Work Study program for this fall, I am writing to confirm changes to departmental administration of Work Study students resulting from the program re-launch.

Highlight of changes:

  • Effective September 5, 2019, the work study rate of pay will increase to $15 per hour. Vacation pay does not apply to the work study rate. Note that employers paying a higher wage continue to be required to cover the additional costs at 100%.
  • Letters of Offer for Work Study have been updated to reflect changes, and will be available on the Career & Co-curricular Learning Network ( > Jobs & Recruitment > Work Study > Step-by-Step Process & Forms)
  • New non-appointed position numbers specific to the Work Study program will be created in each org unit
